Little Learners Montessori School PTO

Purpose:

The LLMS Parent-Teacher Organization was formed in 1987 as a support group for the staff of Little Learners. The organization is a vehicle through which parents have the opportunity to become an active part of the school community and to become truly involved in their child’s education. The staff and the students benefit from the extra support given by the parents and hopefully a true sense of community is the result.

Goals:

  • To provide a means through which parents can work together with the staff for the benefit of all students.
  • To raise moneys through fundraising activities that will be used to enhance the school environment to benefit all students.
  • To plan and assist in school activities.

Memberships:

All parents who have children currently enrolled in Little Learners are encouraged to join. Annual dues are $10.00 per family. The dues help with refreshments, party expenses, gifts, etc.

Volunteers:

There are many ways to help with your time. The PTO Offices and Committees are shown below. Please consider being on at least one of the committees or assisting an officer when needed. We encourage you to get involved by signing up on the Volunteer Sheet or contacting the chairperson.

Meetings:

During the year, the major communication vehicle involving PTO activities is the LLMS monthly Newsletter. Meetings will be announced in the newsletter.  The newsletter will be posted on the Parent Bulletin Board in the front foyer and also on the Current Events page on the website.

New Families:

We welcome you to Little Learners and hope you will be a part of our PTO. Please feel free to call any PTO officer or Little Learners staff member with any concerns or questions.

Expenses:

PTO funds are used to buy school equipment and materials that are needed. Moneys are also spent on teacher conferences, school parties and activities. We welcome any suggestions you may have during the school year for distribution of these funds.

PTO Offices and Committees

Chairperson:

Chair the PTO meetings; keep an updated list of all the parents stating volunteer interest; serve as liaison between parents, committee chairpersons and staff and assist the officers and chairpersons as needed.

Secretary/Treasurer:

Provide financial reports to the organization; record the minutes of all meetings; submit information for newsletter, collect all moneys as necessary to pay all PTO bills and handle financial matters involving the organization.

Social Committee:

Organize the social events of the year including necessary food, decorations, favors, etc.; help in recruiting volunteers for these events; Fall Festival, Thanksgiving Feast, Open House, Valentines Day Party, Easter Party, End of the Year Party.

Fundraising Committee:

Gather fundraising ideas and communicate ideas with the officers; plan, organize and coordinate the fundraising activities during the year, help in recruiting volunteers when needed.

Publicity Committee:

Assist LLM with community involvement, organizing and promoting worthwhile activities; handle advertisements for the school including submitting any special school events and field trips to local newspapers; provide for the distribution of Montessori pamphlets and promotion of the school in the community.
